Students live with a qualified volunteer host family to practice English and become acquainted with American life. The host family is also eager to learn about the student's culture and the history of their country.
Living with Host Families
American host families are carefully selected to host international students. By opening their homes to the young people of the world, they confirm once again the American tradition of reaching out. They are willing to share the culture and way of life as well as to learn about other cultures.
Students become members of the family for one school year or one semester; thus, getting a once-in-a-lifetime experience of appreciating another culture and way of life as well as learning tolerance and acceptance. The student becomes a lifelong friend with the host family.
Trips
GCEF organizes two major trips (at an extra expense) during the winter and spring breaks.
